Welcome to DJs Dance Academy!

Previously we were known as "DJ's Dance School" but now we offer a more exciting and challenging curriculum to our pupils and have re-introduced ourselves as "DJ's Dance Academy".

We are invited to dance and perform at many events around the local area, giving our pupils the best opportunity to display and demonstrate their skills.

We encourage our pupils to learn about the general history of all dance styles and the technical requirements that are involved and needed. This increases their knowledge and understanding of dance. We feel this develops and nurtures their dancing and performance skills and in turn they become a more dedicated and disciplined dancer, giving more enjoyment to their audience. BUT overall we aim for the pupils to have fun and enjoy their dancing!

Dance can be performed just about anywhere, providing it is safe for the dancers. As stated before we perform at many events but most commonly you can see us at a local theatre. Here the dancers are on stage and the audience is in the auditorium. This is the most exciting time for dancers and we encourage all our pupils to take part.

We aim to please the audience (and the dancers) by using many different pieces of music and dance styles. The key to our success is a mixture of many elements, which make the whole piece effective:

• Costumes help us to understand things about the character; where they come from, how old they are
• Lighting helps to create the mood and atmosphere the dancers are creating on stage; happy, sad
• Props are items that the dancer carries around the stage and uses in their routine; chairs, hats, canes
• The Set is the 'scenery'; there may be furniture, backdrops with different scenes displayed

All these elements are 'ingredients' in the recipe of a successful, effective and entertaining performance. If you don't believe us then come and see us. Everyone is welcome!
